Modules will be posted to the class website no later than 7:00 am on the Monday of the week in question. Unless otherwise stated, “Due”means due at 11:00 pm on the Friday.

(May 11-15)    Early humans. Timeline of major eras. Reading via online links.

Week 2            Neolithic period and Ancient civilizations.

(May 18-22)    Due:    Module 2, WW Prologue, Intro to Part 1, Ch 1 (First Peoples), 

                        Ch 2 (First Civilizations)

Week 3            Early Classical Era. Quiz 1on WW Prologue to Chapter 6.

(May 25-29)    Due:    Module 3, WW Intro to Part 2, Ch 3 (State & Empire), 

                        Ch 4 (Culture & Religion), Ch 5 (Society & Inequality), Ch 6 (Africa & Americas)

Week 4            Late Classical Era. Writing workshop for Paper 1.

(Jun 1-5)         Due:    Module 4, Paper 1 & WW Intro to Part 3, Ch 7 (Commerce & Culture),

                        Ch 8 (China & the World), Ch 9 (Worlds of Islam)

Week 5            Late Classical Era. Quiz 2on WW Chapters 7-12. 

(Jun 8-12)      Due:    Module 5, WW Ch 10 (the Worlds of Christendom)

                        Ch 11 (Pastoral Peoples), Ch 12 (Worlds of 15^thC)

Week 6            Early Modern World. Conducting research.

(Jun 15-19)     Due:        Module 6, Research Proposal / ROL & WW Intro to Part 4, Ch 13 (Empires & Encounters),

                        Ch 14 (Commerce & Consequence), Ch 15 (Religion & Science)

Week 7            Western expansion & globalization. Quiz 3on WW Chapters 13-18.

(Jun 22-26)     Due:    Module 7, WW Intro to Part 5, Ch 16 (Atlantic Revolutions),
      Ch 17 (Revolutions of Industrialization), Ch 18 (Colonial Encounters)

Week 8            The 20^thCentury, Light week to catch up and slow down.

(Jun 29-Jul 3)  Due:    Module 8, RP check-in & WW Intro to Part 6, Ch 19 (Empires in Collision)

Week 9            20^thCentury challenges.

(July 6-10)      Due: Module 9, RP & WW Ch 20 (Collapse at Center), Ch 21 (World Communism)

Week 10          21^stCentury conflicts & issues. Quiz 4on WW Ch’s 19-23. Project presentations.

(July 13-17)    Due:    Module 10, Ch 22 (End of Empire), Ch 23 (Capitalism & Culture) 

                        & formal online presentation of research results
